ATV worked on the Chippenham Gateway project for St. Modwen Developments. Our team undertook initial clearance work, ensuring the site was ready for the groundwork to begin. The core work included:

  • clearing and removing 35 mature oak trees and relocating a coppice hazel hedge
  • removing and relocating about 700 m of coppiced hazel using a combination of two 14-t excavators and a 6-t dumper.

A preliminary ecological appraisal of the natural wildlife and habitat in the area was undertaken by an ecologist before the vegetation clearance work commenced. Owing to ecological constraints, we used an extremely specific methodology to ensure the donor hedge was properly managed. It was paramount to stem any loss of soil from around the roots.
